As far back as I can remember my grandma’s hair was snow white. I remember going to spend the night with her and I would ask her to light the coal oil lamp when we went to bed because I was scared to sleep in the dark. We used to walk to go see the basketball games at the French Settlement school gym. She would bring a flashlight in case someone did not bring us back home. She cooked cabbage which I loved. I enjoyed going visit with her and sitting on the swing on her front porch. She had two rockers in her kitchen, one of which I still have on my patio.
